Montag, 29.7.
Reise nach Erbil und Dohuk. Da das Gästehaus von CAPNI zum Schulzimmer umfunktioniert wurde, habe ich einen Raum bei den anderen CAPNI Mitarbeitern im alten Bürogebäude.
Dienstag, 30.7.
Besprechung mit dem Team von Pnaga über die Situation nach der Rückkerh vieler jesidischer Familien aus Baghous (Syrien) nach der Rückeroberung von ISIS.
Niemand kümmert sich um die Familien, nicht Bagdad, nicht Kurdistan, nicht UNHCR (weil sie nicht in ein Camp kommen). Sie haben einen Teil der Familien in unsere Projekte hineinnehmen können, andere wurden glücklicherweise von „springs of hope“ aufgenommen. Wir haben eine Psychologenstelle angesichts der Zusatzarbeit etwas aufgestockt (um einen Tag pro Woche) – für Einzelgespräche.
Wir werden am Freitag ein Picknick für das grosse Team (das etwa 20 Freiwillige hat) machen, ein kleines Dankeschön und damit die Mitarbeitenden auch die schöne Seite des Lebens pflegen können…

Monday, 29.7.
Trip to Erbil and Dohuk. Since CAPNI converted the guest house into a school room, I have a room with the other CAPNI employees in the old office building.
Tuesday, 30.7.
Discussion with the Pnaga team about the situation after the return of many Yeshidi families from Baghous (Syria) after the reconquest of ISIS.
No one cares about the families, neither Baghdad, nor Kurdistan, nor UNHCR (because they do not come to a camp). They have been able to include some of the families in our projects, and others have fortunately been accepted by "springs of hope". In view of the additional work, we have increased a psychologist's position a bit (one day a week) - for one-to-one interviews.
We will have a picnic on Friday for the big team (which has about 20 volunteers), a small "thank you" and so that the employees can also cultivate the beautiful side of life ...
Ali, unser langjähriger, zuverlässiger, hilfsbereiter und charmanter Stellvertreter vor Ort, wird bald mit unserer Hilfe Englisch studieren.
Ali, our longtime, reliable, helpful and charming local representative, will soon study English with our help.
Abends treffe ich meinen Stellvertreter Ali. Er wird ab Oktober für 1,5 Jahre ein Intensiv-Studium in Englisch machen an der Karabük Universität bei Ankara.
Er hat für die Studienzeit einen Stellvertreter für uns gefunden.
Während der vorlesungsfreien Zeit ist er in Kurdistan.
In the evening I meet my deputy Ali. He will be doing intensive English studies for 1.5 years starting in October at the Karabük University near Ankara.
He found a substitute for us during his studies.
During the semester break, he is in Kurdistan.
Computerkurse im „Empowerment center“ für syrische Flüchtlinge

Mittwoch, 31.7.
Am morgen fahre ich mit Vian von unserem Partner „Lotus flower“ nach Fayda (Domiz 2) Camp zu unserem „Empowerment center“ für syrische Flüchtlinge.
Das Zentrum war ursprünglich nur für junge Frauen zum Erlernen von Computerkenntnissen und Programmen gedacht. Aber deren Kinder kamen zum Teil mit uns so entstanden Lernkurse für Kinder. Inzwischen gitb es Literaturkurse für Seniorinnen und Gespräche zwischen den Generationen. Zarok und khaima stützen finanziell das Programm. Nun wurden die Räume aus Platznot umgestellt und wir suchen auch noch einen Container für mehr Platz.
Schon am Morgen sind jetzt Jugendliche da, die Excel und Powerpoint erlernen wollen. Sie sitzen auf dem Trockenen, da viele Organisationen sich aus Kurdistan zurückziehen. Doch das Herzstück sollen die jungen studierenden Frauen bleiben, um ihnen eine Zukunft mit Studien-Abschluss zu ermöglichen.
Wednesday, 31.7.
In the morning I drive with Vian from our partner "Lotus flower" to Fayda (Domiz 2) Camp to our "empowerment center" for Syrian refugees.
The center was originally intended only for young women to learn computer literacy and programs. But their children came in part with us so developed learning courses for children. There are now literary courses for seniors and intergenerational discussions. Zarok and khaima financially support the program. Now the rooms were converted from lack of space and we are looking for a container for more space.
Already in the morning are now young people who want to learn Excel and PowerPoint. They are "on dry land" as many organizations are withdrawing from Kurdistan. But the heart should be on the young women studying to enable them to graduate with a future.

Anschliessend geht die Fahrt Richtung Zakho zum Qadya Camp. khaima hat dort eine Bäckerei unterstützt, die von jesidischen Frauen, zurück aus IS Gefangenschaft, gegründet wurde mit einem Restaurant.
Die Frauen sind hochmotiviert, entdecken ein neues Ziel im Leben und geben sich voll ein. Sie erhalten viele Aufträge, müssen aber mit Hitze, Stromausfall (mitten im Kuchenbacken…) und Behördenauflagen kämpfen. Jetzt braucht es eine Toilette nach den Richtlinien.
Die Frauen sind in Aufregung… doch es ist nicht teuer und khaima wird diese Hilfe leisten.
Afterwards the drive goes to Zakho to Qadya Camp. khaima supported a bakery founded by Yezidi women back from IS captivity with a restaurant.
The women are highly motivated, discover a new goal in life and give themselves fully. They receive many orders, but they have to fight with heat, power failure (in the middle of cake baking ...) and governmental regulations. Now it needs a toilet according to the guidelines.
The women are in high spirits ... but it is not expensive and khaima will provide this help.
Seelsorge - die Traumarbeit mit den Kindern und Jugendlichen ist wichtig, anstrengend, nötig - aber es lohnt sich und entlockt sogar hie und da ein Lächeln
Pastoral or psychological care - the dream work with the children and adolescents is important, exhausting, necessary - but it is worthwhile and even elicits a smile here and there
Am Nachmittag ist das follow up trauma project in Sharya. Das sind Kinder und Erwachsene, die ein erstes Projekt in Trauma abschlossen, aber immer noch an der Trauma Arbeit sind. Damit sie ungestört sich unserer Spieltherapeutin und den Psychologen/innen widmen können, haben wir für die Kinder ein „Kinderprogramm“ in das follow up Projekt eingebaut.
Donnerstag, 1.8.
Während die Schweiz den Nationalfeiertag begeht, wartet hie Arbeit… Gespräche mit anderen Organisationen und am Nachmittag der Besuch wiederum in Sharya.
Es ist das zusätzliche Traumaprojekt, das die Familien mit einschliesst, die von Baghous in Syrien zurückgekehrt sind…
Mit Sandtherapie oder Tanz / Theater oder Gesang werden die Kinder und Jugendlichen auf den Weg mitgenommen und können dann in Einzel- oder Gruppentherapien fortfahren.
Der Abend ist reserviert für den Besuch von Kawa und Dlshad, den beiden Peshmerga Soldaten, denen wir eine Beinprothese erstellen werden
In the afternoon is the follow up trauma project in Sharya. These are children and adults who completed a first project in trauma, but are still working on the trauma. So that they can devote undisturbed to our play therapist and the psychologists, we have built a "children's program" into the follow up project for the children.
Thursday, 1.8.
While Switzerland is commemorating the national holiday, this work is waiting ... talks with other organizations and in the afternoon the visit in Sharya.
It is the extra trauma project that involves the families who have returned from Baghous in Syria ...
With sand therapy or dance / theater or singing the children and adolescents are taken on the way and can then continue in individual or group therapies.
The evening is reserved for the visit of Kawa and Dlshad, the two Peshmerga soldiers, to whom we will create a prosthetic leg
